Fantastic Beasts Era

  • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) — British magizoologist Newt Scamander arrives in New York carrying a magical suitcase full of fantastic creatures — and, of course, some of them escape! Between a desperate No-Maj and a paranoid local Ministry of Magic, the adventure mixes cuteness, comedy, and the first dark signs of Grindelwald.
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) — Grindelwald escapes American custody and flees to Europe, plotting to recruit followers for his wizard-supremacy cause. Newt is enlisted by Dumbledore to stop him, while family secrets, swapped identities, and forbidden romances pile up in Paris.
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) — Dumbledore finally takes a stand against his former love and now enemy Grindelwald, gathering an unlikely team — including Newt and his friends — to stop the villain from seizing global magical power. The film closes the trilogy with more political, darker tones, echoing the horrors of World War II.

Hogwarts Era

  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) — An orphaned boy discovers, on his 11th birthday, that he is actually a wizard — and is taken to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Between flying lessons, an inseparable trio of friends, and a mystery involving a magical stone hidden in the castle, one of cinema's biggest franchises is born.
  • Harry Potter (HBO Series) - Season 1 (2026) — HBO retells the saga from scratch, one season per book: the first adapts "The Philosopher's Stone" with a new cast — Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron, chosen out of roughly 40,000 auditioning candidates. John Lithgow plays Dumbledore, Janet McTeer plays McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu plays Snape, and Nick Frost plays Hagrid.
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) — Harry returns to Hogwarts amid sinister messages written on the walls and students being petrified by a monster loose in the school. The plot grows darker — and more deliciously creepy — with a flying car, a phobia-inducing giant spider, and the first big clue about Voldemort's past.
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) — A dangerous fugitive from Azkaban is on the loose and seems to be after Harry, while dark Dementors hover over Hogwarts sucking away all joy. Under Alfonso Cuarón's direction, the film takes a more mature visual and tonal turn and introduces the Marauder's Map and time travel.
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) — The Triwizard Tournament comes to Hogwarts with dragons, mermaids, and a treacherous maze — and, mysteriously, Harry ends up competing despite being too young. It's the film where adolescence knocks on the door, and also the definitive turning point: Voldemort finally returns by the end of the story.
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) — With the Ministry of Magic denying Voldemort's return, Harry forms "Dumbledore's Army" to teach his classmates defense in secret from the fearsome Professor Umbridge. It's the saga's most political film, about disinformation and collective resistance — and also the shortest, condensing the series' longest book.
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) — Between memories plunged into the Pensieve and revelations about Voldemort's dark past, Harry and Dumbledore race against time to find the Horcruxes. Meanwhile, the mood is one of blossoming romances and teenage jealousy at Hogwarts — until a jaw-dropping ending changes everything forever.
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010) — Harry, Ron, and Hermione abandon the safety of Hogwarts and set off on a dangerous, lonely journey across England, hunting Horcruxes as the Ministry falls under Voldemort's control. It's the saga's rawest, most melancholic film — no classes, no parties, just survival, tension, and friendship tested to its limit.
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011) — The final showdown arrives: Hogwarts becomes a battlefield in the last war between good and evil, with sacrifices, emotional revelations about Snape, and Voldemort's fate sealed once and for all. It's the epic, cathartic ending an entire generation had been waiting for.
